Welcome to the Berkeley Neighborhood Food Project!
The Food Project is a revolutionary new way to collect food: It's a donor drive, not a food drive.
Instead of asking for one-time contributions of food, our volunteers (Neighborhood Coordinators) enlist their neighbors to become long-term Food Donors.

What's the Food Project about?

What we do
Neighbors give a bag of food every two months. It's incredibly easy, because we supply the bag…and we pick up the food! This provides food pantries with a steady, year-round supply of food…and provides donors with the ongoing satisfaction of making a real difference. People also get to know their neighbors, which builds a powerful sense of community. So everyone wins.
What's the result?
Our system really works! Since the Berkeley Neighborhood Food Project started in 2012, we've collected more than 30,000 lbs. of food—the equivalent of about 24,000 meals for our hungry neighbors.

Whether you donate food, collect it, participate in making policy decisions, or help out in some other way, you are what makes this program work. The BNFP needs you!
